Almost everyday after finals I've got something on till this week, when I finally told myself that no, I've got to stay at home and my body is also protesting that I don't have sufficient rest. Shortly after WSFC ended, I went for the flu vaccination as Korea was one of the listed countries in the list that travellers should get vaccinated before they leave for that country. Usually, symptoms like cough, fever and sore throat have never developed after I was administered the flu jab (from past experiences). However, this time was an exception. The next day, I woke up with a very bad sore throat and initially I thought it was just me being too heaty. Thus, I dismissed the thought that its coming from the flu jab and went ahead to meet Jiahua and Liying at Cathay Aston's for lunch since quite a long time ago. I was still feeling quite alright with the exception of my throat, and we went to catch the movie Hangover III. Alot of people commented that the previous 2 Hangover episodes were much nicer than the finale. I'm not too sure as I didn't catch the first two personally. I would say that Hangover III was quite a lame and funny show, and most of the jokes were either too lame (and that's why it's funny) or dirty. It doesn't have a really nice storyline to it though, and I would give it 2 stars out of 5.
After the movie, we headed over to plaza singapura to walk around and Liying as usual was feeling lazy to walk. Going out with the uni clique and with Liying around will always equate to finding a place and sit down and lepak. So yep, that's what we did. Lepak-ed at the stall which sold crepés at basement one, and that was when my symptoms gradually started to become full blown. Watery eyes, giddyness, dizzy spells and backache all came at once, topping up my already worsening-like-crazy sore throat. And so I just nua-ed against my seat, feeling flushed and uncomfortable all over. My voice started to change too, seemed like I was croaking all the way while I tried to still talk to Jiahua and Liying. Didn't tell them how I feel as I didn't want them to worry, but they knew I wasn't feeling that good already. Liying left first as she had to fetch her brother from airport who just came back from Taiwan; and Jiahua left too, to meet his friends for a drink after I assured him that I would be alright.
As I was supposed to meet my cousins for dinner for a get-together since my Aussie cousin came back for a holiday, I hung around plaza singapura a little while more before I leave for Outram park (since it's just 3 stops away from dhoby ghaut). My throat was burning and my body felt like all pins and needles, as if it wasn't mine. I was struggling between whether to cab home straight from PS (yes it was that unbearable) or just be strong and tolerate it for a while more over dinner. I chose the latter, although I'm not very sure what made me do so. I made my way to cold storage to get my bottle of water and while I was walking there, it was the very first time that I felt that I was gonna blackout anytime. It was like that kind of dizzy, gonna pass out kinda feeling but I managed to steady myself and hang on. Was really super cold in cold storage, felt as though the aircon was biting into my bones.
As I still had about 45 more minutes to wait before I should leave PS, I decided to shop (yes, shop. I think I was mad at that time and too disoriented) to distract myself from the giddiness. Cos I knew if were to walk around aimlessly, I think there's a higher chance of me passing out. As reluctant as I was, I sent a text to dear just in case anything happened to me. I was reluctant as he was out with his army friends, and I know he would worry if he knew I was like that. Left my phone in the bag as I boarded the mrt and alighted 3 stops later at Outram park. Sat at the seats at the platform and took a quick nap because I was feeling that lousy.
Part of me chastised myself for being stubborn and not listening to what my instincts told me to, that's because as I was waiting I really felt vulnerable and wanted to go home. But yet another part of me was that I wanted to meet my cousin whom I haven't seen for quite sometime since CNY. Dismissing those thoughts, I drifted into a light sleep at the seats at the platform till my cousins came. That was when I saw that I had a very worried text message from dear and I got even more annoyed with myself for making him feel like that. Dinner was at 49 seats, a café at Kreta Ayer road that served really good western food. And by really good, I mean really really good, probably one of the best I've ever tasted. However due to my throat and body, I could only eat little as most of the food were fried and baked etc. their service, however was really quite bad and slow. We had to wait for about 40 mins for the main course to come up, prolly due to the lack of helpers in the kitchen and waiters/waitresses.
Left the place at 1030pm and it was considered early as my cousins saw that I have that really-cannot-take-it-any-more face. I'm very grateful for Connie Jie who cabbed with me back home, and I'm lucky that her condo is just beside mine.
Well so this wraps up that day, 14 June 2013 where I felt so lousy physically and yet felt so loved by my dear ones around me. Sorry for the worries I've caused (esp to zs) and thanks for all the concerns from all of you (: I love you all.
Another of the bests: one of the nicest cheese fries ever tasted. Beats long john's silvers and KFC.
One of my favourites too, pan seared dory with a special prawn sauce (they gave it a French name which I can't remember).
This is supposedly their signature dish, tomyam seafood pasta. I'm a fan of tomyam and chilli, but this is way too spicy. They used chilli padis.
We had desserts which was ice cream on waffles and banana split. By then I was too sick to even have appetite for anything and didnt take the photos. But they were very good too.
